pocket paintings:
What always bothered me was some kind of elitism in my works. Their large format is a relatively high entry threshold for many collectors. I stubbornly refused to make “smaller” paintings as they seemed somewhat insincere to me. Once, however, one of my friends was leaving the country and took a sample of my painting, claiming that he liked such a “pocket” option. “Pocket” doesn't mean the same with “smaller”. Since then, I have been making small 10x10 paintings which I paste in public spaces and hand out at exhibitions. Such an egalitarian form frees the mind from considering the work purely mercantile and constitutes some kind of reference, a supplement to bigger works.
